Campground (500 sq. ft.) in Aurora, ME
7.8 miles from Great Pond
Summary: We offer a super-private campsite nestled on the edge of a tree line in a large meadow. Our farm has a 64-acre pond for swimming, kayaking, and having fun, 140-acres of land, organic gardens, trails for hiking and mountain biking, and farm animals for visiting. Relax at our campsite during your whole stay or explore the surrounding area! The Space: Camping on a 140-acre organic farm in Downeast Maine! Guest Access: This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to offer unique outdoor accommodations on beautiful private land. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise. Each campsite includes a 10'x12' safari-style canvas tent on a raised platform, and you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed inside (each site is different, see photos for the exact setup). Larger groups can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided (you’re welcome to bring your own camping gear too). You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night. What you should bring: -S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat -A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling -Bedding and pillows -Lanterns and lighting -Firewood for the campfire -Water Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property. If a CampKeeper submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set! Occupancy: Max occupancy refers to the total number of campers allowed at the site during your reservation. We welcome campers with larger parties, but you may need to bring extra camping gear of your own in addition to the tent that is already provided. Please plan accordingly. Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. Line the bucket with a CleanWaste bag supplied at the camp (or another appropriate plastic bag) prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. We got this idea from bathrooms used on NASA spaceships, and we've used the Tentrr Loo countless times ourselves- don't worry! Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days. Other Things to Note: Please feel free to make yourself at home here on the farm! If you have any questions about Dos and Don'ts just ask!

Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the parks name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape. Cadalic Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require. HISTORY The cabin was likely built in the 1930's to 50's and was part of a logging operation. The cabin enjoyed phone service for a while from the Narraguagus Telephone Company, which closed operations around World War II. The cabin phone was made out of wood and the line ran along the bottom of the lake. The cabin was a hunting camp for a few decades. A few deer antlers still hang on the wall. At one point, the cabin had a bear skin rug. A famous Maine Guide owned the property for a about a decade. In 1925, he was the youngest guide in the state. This person designed a canoe that is still in production today. Prior to 1980, accessing the cabin involved parking a vehicle and driving a Model T about a mile and crossing a low part of the Narraguagus River. Then after parking the Model T, people carried their gear through the woods to the lakeshore. From there, people put their gear into a canoe and paddled across the lake. Later, after years of logging and new roads, today's access just requires 4 miles of dirt roads and 1/3 mile hike.

This is the real deal, our camp was built by my grandfather in the 1940's and has been lovingly kept up by our family ever since. Camp Bud has 100' of waterfront in quiet School House Cove on crystal clear, spring fed, Beech Hill Pond which measure three miles by five and has great fishing, loons, ducks, eagles and so much more. We provide a 18' canoe and 2 kayaks for exploring the lake. Acadia National Park is a 45 min drive from camp. Our roomy 10' by 20' screened/glassed in porch is just 10 feet from the waters edge. Every guest we have had over the past 5 years has said "The porch is the place to be!" Many people sleep on the porch even if there is room for them to sleep in the camp. There is nothing like listening to the rain on the roof directly over your head or hearing the Loons just outside the porch screens, catching the pine scented breeze in the evening, or hearing the waves lapping on the rock lined shore. The porch features a futon and a long roomy table built by my father 50 years ago. Using the bench and chairs the table will seat 8 comfortably for your lobster dinner (we provide all pots, utensils and special plates you would need for this) or maybe you will want to cook out on our large Bar-B-Q / Smoker located just outside the porch door, also all utensils for this are hanging on the porch wall including long forks for cooking hot dogs and s'mores over the fire pit. We also have a large table and chairs for picnicking outdoors under the pines and only 5 feet from the waters edge Many charming features are still intact such as the painted wood floors, the original knotty pine paneling the pealed pine logs that make up the railing to the loft bedroom. The original wood shed and boat house are also still here. The master bedroom and bathroom were added on in the 80's. This bedroom has a nice view to the water a queen size bed dresser and large closet. The bath is right beside the master and has a shower. there is another 1/2 bath in the laundry room. We supply all linens, extra blankets, plenty of towels including beach towels, we also provide toilet paper shampoo and soap. We have a nice large kitchen as you can see in the pictures.
